Loving Heavenly Father
Who expressed your perfect love
In the perfect sacrifice
Of Your Son upon a cross
I confess that my love
Is all too often watered down and weak.
I think and talk the way of love
But seldom match these with action
Seldom with action that comes with a cost
So seldom in any way that is sacrificial.
On this day when we commemorate
The Sacrificial Love of so many lives lost in human conflict
I thank you for the Sacrificial Love of my Lord and Saviour
Asking that you would help my own love to go deeper
That Love would be the mark of who I am
Love for God
Love for my neighbours
Love for my fellow believers
Not just an honourable thought
Not just a good intention
But a lifestyle
Which blesses others
Which serves your purposes
Which transforms and enriches the lives of others
In Jesus name.
