Almighty Omniscient God
In our human wisdom
We have all sorts of good ideas
About how we could save the world
Of what we would do if we were in charge
And we find it so easy
To judge and criticise
Those who are burdened with leadership.
Our plans for the salvation of the planet
And for the improvement of human destiny
Would certainly not include the birth of a baby
Born in poverty and shrouded in humility.
Thank you, Heavenly Father,
For taking the initiative
For preparing the plan
For acting decisively
For bringing salvation
For sending Jesus.
Help me to receive him wholeheartedly
And without reservation
This Christmas.
Come, Lord Jesus, be born afresh in my life today.
